Fordon Chalk Bank - Allan Rodda
Fordon Chalk Bank TA052751 nearest Post Code is YO25 3HX
Butterfly Conservation Yorkshire Branch assists in the management of this important site, home to many species of butterfly, moth and other wildlife. This rare unimproved chalk grassland has a very healthy population of Dingy Skipper, Wall and an abundance of other life on its steep south facing slopes situated just to the east of the village of Fordon. We will be carrying out scrub clearance to help improve the habitat. The Grid Reference for the site is TA052751.
Directions: Approach would most commonly be from the A64. At Staxton roundabout take the A1039 Filey road then after a mile just before the village of Flixton take the minor road on the right signed Fordon. Follow the road up onto the Wolds to Fordon where you turn left (east). After 100yards you will see the Butterfly Conservation sign at the stile on the corner. Meet at the entrance and park safely on the verge avoiding obstructing the farm access.
