Butterfly Conservation Yorkshire are collaborating with the East Keswick Wildlife Trust in conservation management at Ox Close Wood.The Trust was created in 1992 in order to purchase the wood so that it could be preserved for the benefit of wildlife and people. The site is a mixed woodland with rides and grazing area bounded on the north by the River Wharfe and is host to a wide variety of butterfly and moth species.

Wear stout boots or shoes and appropriate clothing.

Bring a packed lunch and drinks if required.

On-site facilities include an earth toilet.

Parking is free at the meeting place.

A Land Rover will be available to transport equipment and (if necessary) people down to the wood.

Activities are expected to include processing brash, learning how to make habitat piles of logs and brash, cutting and raking scallops along the top ride and raking and collection of previous cuttings.
